SMOP 2006

In the summer of 2006, Radio Rootz partnered with South Asian Youth Action, Adelante Alliance, and the Prison Moratorium Project to create three youth documentaries. The documentaries are being used to support the organizing campaigns led by the SMOP partners.

SMOP SAYA

Gang involvement and gang violence isn’t expected from these groups, but to the surprise of many, it exists and is growing rapidly among youth in NYC. This documentary does not provide solutions to this problem, but introduces and analyzes the problem from its roots. This fourteen-minute piece, consisting primarily of youth voices, will allow one to reach a unique level of realization about gangs among immigrant communities.
