The ‘Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the Child’ was adopted by the League of Nations. The document set forth a list of universal principles based on the idea that ‘the Child’ deserves the best that mankind has to offer. Based on these beliefs The United Nations put out a similar resolution 35 years later. Their Declaration calls on both individuals and governments to protect the fundamental rights of all children without discrimination. This includes protection against cruelty and exploitation, adequate nutrition and housing, access to medical care, and a free equal-opportunity education. Unfortunately the Capitalist system doesn’t really cater to these rights; profit before people, remember?
