President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Kennedy was riding through a parade in Dallas Texas when he was shot in the head and killed. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the assassination 80 minutes later, but 2 days later he was also shot and killed. Many investigations were carried out over the following years, but there is still disagreement as to what exactly happened that day. The FBI report was one of the most heavily criticized because evidence was found later that connected the suspected assassin to an FBI agent. Although Kennedy was often praised as one of the more progressive presidents, a number of critics question his validity as a civil rights supporter.
